West Midlands Culture Response Unit (WMCRU) is today delighted to announce the Midsummer Festival, a free one-day festival celebrating arts and culture in the West Midlands on Saturday 20th June.  
 

Wolverhampton Art Gallery has used its collections to create a digital exhibition while closed during lockdown.

Southside Business Improvement District (BID) is calling for the region’s budding artists to submit their rainbow artwork, which will be beamed out over the area on the Hippodrome big screen.

Wolverhampton Art Gallery and council library services are inviting budding artists to submit images of lockdown-inspired art to include in special online exhibition ‘Art in Lockdown’.

With the lockdown forcing many of us to spend more time at home, Birmingham Museums Trust has moved this year’s Inspire art competition online to encourage people of all ages to get creative for their well-being and be inspired by what they can see.

While City of Wolverhampton Council’s Arts and Culture venues are closed during the coronavirus outbreak the team is working hard to give people their culture fix by making resources available digitally.

Tickets are flying out of the door for the headline acts at next week's Wolverhampton Literature Festival (Friday, January 31 to Sunday, February 2).

A new exhibition featuring highly innovative prints by Irish artist and former Wolverhampton Polytechnic student Tim Mara will go on display at Wolverhampton Art Gallery next month.

The 40th Warwick Folk Festival, which took place from the 25 – 28 July, attracted record numbers and featured a superb line up of folk stars from around the world including headline act, Billy Bragg.  Over 30,000 people attended a range of festival events over the 4-day weekend with the crowds enjoying a mini heatwave on the Thursday and Friday.

‘Only Here’ is a selection of exciting festivals, shows and destinations, which have been handpicked for visitors to highlight the region’s varied arts, culture and science offer. They range from a headbanging homage to heavy metal music, to a “first-glass”, international festival of glassmaking.
