You are here > Digital Visitor Engagement Update - October
West Midlands Growth Company commissioned CTConsults to deliver the DVE strand of work through to March 2023 as part of the wider BATP to support and enhance the visitor experience around the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and leave a lasting legacy.
The DVE strand will enable visitors to discover and book cultural, leisure, sporting, and tourism products through the channels that are most convenient for them and that offer them the best value. At the same time, it will provide you as destinations or cultural partners with the digital capabilities and insights you need to operate more efficiently and to grow.
This newsletter includes latest updates from the project as we work together to develop the Digital Visitor Information Network (DVIN), Integrated Digital Engagement Analytics (IDEA) for the West Midlands region, outlining how and when you can participate, as well as how we will support you through the process.
A new digital partner marketing pilot is being launched this Autumn. The pilot activity will support organisations to develop their knowledge and skills in digital partner marketing and analytics.
Activity is proposed to take place between 8th – 28th November. Partners wishing to take part are being asked to commit by:
sharing events from other selected partners
setting up digital tracking in Google Analytics
sharing their data via the Integrated Digital Engagement Analytics (IDEA) dashboard.
Full training and ongoing support is provided to partners. Results from the activity will be monitored via the new IDEA dashboard and insights from the pilot activity presented at a workshop in January 2022.
The free pilot is open to any cultural partners in the West Midlands Combined Authority area to join.
To find out more about the pilot and register your interest in taking part in the pilot please email Adam Koszary, Head of Digital:

Two workshops will take place in October to launch the Digital Partner Marketing Pilot and help partners build skills in digital analytics. The training will be focused on setting up tracking in Google Analytics 4, providing partners with an introduction to this new analytics platform. The session will be delivered by Dan Lukas from CT Consults and supported by Adam Koszary at The Audience Agency.
Sessions will take place on the following dates:
Cultural Partners - Tuesday 19th October 1:00pm-2:30pm
Destination Management Organisations – Wednesday 20th October 12:30pm – 2:00pm
Please contact adam.koszary@theaudienceagency.org to register.
Connect your data to the Integrated Digital Engagement Analytics (IDEA) dashboard via Google Analytics 4 and compare your results to partners across the region.
If your organisation requires support with Google Analytics 4 set up, there is a small amount of funding available to help you pay for time from your web developer or agency.
For more information on how to access the grant please contact: paul.marshall@wmgrowth.com
Thank you to those partners whose Google Analytics 4 connection has allowed the development of a West Midlands wide insights dashboard, to begin to view the website performance trends across the region, better understand our audience, and assess how many events are occurring in different areas based on the listings data in DVIN.
This dashboard will help understand the impact of the upcoming Digital Partner Marketing campaign, so please reach out to ollie@ctconsults.com to have your data contribute to gaining accurate insights.
The DVIN platform has been in development and excitingly is nearly completed. With the final few weeks of testing underway, the platform will soon be ready to be integrated with destination websites, and for event and venue listings to be uploaded for publishing across the region.
For Destination partners, we will be in touch for how and when to get your website integrated over the coming months.
For Cultural partners, we will be in touch for when you can make an account and how to begin uploading your listings to the platform.
In case you need a quick reminder, the Digital Visitor Information Network will allow partners to submit and update their event and venue information via destination websites or automated feeds; consolidate listings from across the West Midlands on a single, centrally-managed database; make listings from across the region accessible through a single, highly filterable API; and help you as destinations or cultural partners connect to DVIN and update your own websites to promote the regional offer.
If you’re wanting more information please reach out to paul.marshall@wmgrowth.com
Partners of DVIN or IDEA can contact the dedicated Support Desk to access advice from the digital specialist team. Hosted by The Audience Agency, the support desk will be open Monday to Friday 10am – 6pm.
When you contact the support desk you will generate a Support Ticket which will be responded to by one of the Project Support Team within 24 hours.
If you require a call back and would like to talk to someone in person please send a request with a brief description of your query. A member of the Project Support Team will then arrange a time to call you back.
The Audience Agency can also request support on your behalf from the project lead CTConsults and West Midlands Growth Company.
