Families, friends and couples have all been getting their skates on to glide into the festive season in Coventry’s very own winter wonderland within the outdoor setting of Coventry Cathedral Ruins. From beginners to skilled skaters, thousands of people from across the region have already experienced Coventry Glides in the run up to Christmas. The magical, festive rink – a partnership between the Coventry City of Culture Trust and Coventry City Council, with support from the Coventry Business Improvement District – will be open until Sunday 9 January, including right up to 8pm on Christmas Eve re-opening 12pm on Boxing Day. There are still slots available and Laura McMillan, Director of Audience Strategy, at Coventry City of Culture Trust, has urged people to book as soon as possible. She said: “It’s been fantastic to bring some extra magic to Coventry City Centre this Christmas with Coventry Glides. Seeing the joy that taking to the ice has brought so many people has been wonderful, and we look forward to welcoming many more as we head in to Christmas and the New Year. “Coventry Glides is an outdoor experience for the whole family to enjoy, and you don’t even need to skate, the free spectator area has delicious hot chocolate, hot dogs and even some mulled wine for your Après Skate! Tickets are selling fast so book now to make sure you don’t miss out before we close on 9 January.” Tickets and more information are available at www.coventry2021.co.uk

PaulHuge I have been familiar with skates for a long time, especially during my youth when I played hockey. Now, I participate in sports events only by watching them and betting on my favorite team.
